Haynes Golden Root P51 Bass Pickup

Before the split-coil, there was the single-coil. Raw, open, and alive with character — the Haynes Golden Root P51 is a hand-wound single-coil bass pickup that takes you back to where it all began, without sacrificing a single ounce of playability or tone.

Inspired by the earliest electric bass pickups of the early 1950s, the P51 is wound by hand in our UK workshop using Alnico V rod magnets and period-correct Formvar wire. The result is a pickup with genuine vintage DNA — bright, clear, and full of that unmistakable early-era snap and bloom that no modern mass-produced pickup can replicate.

The Tone

Strike a note and you'll feel it as much as hear it. The P51 delivers a bright, articulate top end with a warm, rounded low-mid foundation — the kind of tone that cuts through a mix with effortless clarity. It's punchy without being harsh, warm without being muddy. Perfect for roots music, rockabilly, early rock and roll, and any player who wants something genuinely different from the crowd.
